President’s Report

A very successful Summer set the springboard for an exciting Fall at the Stark County Humane Society. The Howling Good Time at the Historic Canton Masonic Temple on September 22, 2018 and the Mutt Strut on September 30, 2018 held, for the first time, at the Shelter itself, attracted huge crowds and were financially successful. Events like these provide an opportunity for our many supporters to come together, have a good time and participate in raising funds for a very worthy cause. Money raised at these events is used to improve the Shelter's infrastructure; enhance our veterinary facilities; install a modern HVAC system; and increase the quality of our outdoor environment with additional play areas and a soon to be completed one-mile walking path containing a number of "Pawtios" for our furry friends.

It is gratifying and essential that we have the support and confidence of the community. We are a private 501(c)(3) organization and receive no government funding. The community's participation in events such as those noted above, and positive response to our Annual Fund Drive Appeal are critical to our ability to continue to fight animal cruelty; provide medical attention to sick, injured or abandoned animals; and adopt our canine and feline friends into loving homes.

Our affection for the beauty of Fall is tempered by recognition of the fact that we need to prepare for Winter. Our pledge to the community is that we will continue to do everything in our power to demonstrate we are worthy of your support of our Mission to

"Speaking for Those Who Cannot Speak for Themselves."
